Healthplex Expo—Co-organized by Trade Development Bureau, Ministry of Commerce of P.R.China and China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Medicines & Health Products, will be held from March.20 to March.22 ,2009 at the China World Exhibition Hall, Beijing,China.
Healthplex Expo focuses on four major areas of the health industry: nature medicines, functional foods, natural cosmetics and homecare products.
Bumper Opportunity in China
China’s demand for Medicines and Healthcare Products has undergone a two-digit annual growth over the past 5 years. The growth rate of Chinese pharmaceutical industry has surpassed that of the global medicine retail market, it has become the fifth biggest market of medicine and healthcare in the world. With a population of 1.3 billion, China’s demand for medicines and health products will continue to grow rapidly. This, combined with the increase of the aging population, will drive the medicines and healthcare market to grow at the rate of 15% annually, higher than that of the global average growth. By 2020, the market scale of the Chinese medicines and healthcare products is predicted to outstrip the USA, which makes China the largest market in the world.
Rapid Growth Industry
The concept of “Food better than medicine” is widely accepted by the public, which triggers the bigger growth of the market of natural medicines and nutraceuitcals. Worldwide demand for natural medicines and nutraceuticals is forecast to increase 10 percent annually up to US$9.6 billion in 2008.
Healthcare market, as another focal point of the global pharmaceutical and health products manufacturing, is growing very fast and is influenced by a number of trends which give rise to the production of medical equipment for personal and household care on a larger scale. These trends include: growing and aging population, improvement of insurance policy, introduction of new precautionary physical exercises, development of technology in new clinical therapies.
